Charles Xavier

&nbsp Professor Charles Xavier (also known as Professor X) is a central character in X-Men Legends. Xavier is one of the most powerful mutants in the world, having telepathic abilities, as well as Cerebro; a machine which amplifies his powers to find anyone in the world. He is the founder of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters and the X-Men.

Early LifeEdit

When he was just a young boy, Charles Xavier lived in a countryside mansion in the United Kingdom. After the end of World War II, the family moved to Westchester, New York.

Erik and CharlesEdit

Xavier studied at Oxford University and graduated as a Professor. Xavier's theories on the mutant gene earned him high respect with some of the world's cleverest minds of the era. Xavier soon befriended a former student who was intrigued by Xavier's theories - and intended to prove them right. Erik Lehnsherr showed Xavier his ability to manipulate metal and Xavier revealed he was a telepath. The pair became close friends.

Cold WarEdit

During the heat of the Cold War, Xavier, Lehnsherr and Dr. Hank McCoy foiled a plot by the mutant Sebastien Shaw to use the conflict between East and West to his advantage. Shaw and his Hellfire Club wanted to use the nuclear crisis to exterminate the world's leading powers and enslave humanity under Mutant rule.

Conflict grew between Xavier and Lehnsherr; peace-loving Xavier believed that peace could be achieved between humanity and Mutants; Lehsherr, traumatised by his experience during the Holocaust, believed a war was about to break out between the two races. Old friends became bitter enemies, and the two reluctantly parted ways.
